What a rush…Go Team!

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Our big night seemed to go without a hitch.  The live online launch of our talk show was a rush for both me and my co-host GR.  Our executive producer Mark was at the ready, in case anything went awry.  Our producer Brian “the Duckster” worked hard to make sure technical issues wouldn’t let us down.

From the moment we said, “Welcome to a special show”…to the moment we signed off and thanked everyone for listening, we were on a roll.  I found out later we had listeners in Detroit, Phoenix, and Boston…in addition to our base site, The Twin Cities.  The thrill of the Internet.

Our show, The Things We Do For Love is a show about relationships.  The fun part about live Internet radio is anything goes.  Once it’s said, it’s done.  Once it’s done, we react, you react.  And that reaction can make for some great banter, advice, inspiration.

So it was a rush to welcome our listeners to a very special show on a special night with a special team.  Thanks guys…and thanks to everyone who found us.

Big Night

As a journalist, you start on the career path sticking to the facts.  Staying neutral.  Trying not to share your opinion anywhere in your stories.  As time goes on, you realize that’s tougher and tougher to do.  Why?  Because we’re all human.  Yet everyday, journalists strive to do this.  And many do it well.  I’d like to think I passed muster when I was a full-time television journalist.  But for now, I am not a full-time news person.  In the name of full disclosure, I am a part-time radio news person.  You’ll see why suspending that once a week won’t be a bad thing.

As a presentation trainer, a consultant, radio talent, and commercial talent sharing opinion and personality become totally necessary.  My clients depend on it.  In fact, when you go to the other side of news, and by this I mean Talk Radio, you better have an opinion, or you won’t have any listeners.

So tonight, I announce the live online launch of The Things We Do For Love.  A little show about relationships.  It’s been my love child for about a year and a half now.  From show concept to research to figuring out who would co-host with me.  My co-host, GR, and I have been slowly developing it for more than a year.  First as demo reels and then as a podcast.  Tonight, that all changes.  We will take our baby and hold its hands as we see if it can walk.

We hope you join us.  Listen live at:  love.1000.am at 7pm Central Time.  You can tune in every Sunday during that time slot, just click on the Listen Live button.  You’re also welcome to listen to past podcasts at that site.  And by all means, call in.  Share some opinion.  You don’t have to stay neutral.  In fact, we don’t think you’ll want to hold back.
