I am pleased to introduce Stacy Klone, a Professional Organizer who has specialties in food and food spaces. She shares ideas to help you Present Your Best where it matters most for you and your family.
There are a few golden rules for keeping spaces organized. Remember this: For every one item brought into the home, two should be taken out. Keep these thoughts in mind during cold and flu season and use this as the perfect time to clean out the medicine cabinet.
Here’s my system for safe disposal. First, gather all unneeded or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines. Take them out of the packaging, remove all personal identification, and dump them into a bag of undesirable substances such as kitty litter or wet coffee grounds. Throwing the bag into the trash ensures the drugs won’t find their way into the wrong hands or into our drinking water. Studies show that pharmaceuticals and other meds are present in our nation’s bodies of water. They end up in drinking water because our wastewater treatment facilities are not designed to remove them. You can also return unused or expired drugs to pharmaceutical take-back locations for safe disposal. By following the steps above, you get an organized medicine cabinet and will help keep our water clean.
